While Leeds pushes ahead after an exceptional period of take up, other cities are enjoying a renaissance. For many years Bradford was in the doldrums but has recently seen a spate of deals.
The same is true for Sheffield where the Heart of the City scheme has played such a major part. Too many people see property developers as greedy entrepreneurs but the truth is that without them regeneration and new space would not come.
Equally important is that all the property sectors are enjoying this buoyancy. The star performer is industrial, driven by changes in retailing patterns and the need for large sheds.
Interestingly, Yorkshire is at the top in this sector, probably because of available former industrial sites and good transport links that will need to be upgraded with the arrival of new trains as part of the Northern Powerhouse concept.
The county will certainly need high speed rail as well or otherwise it will be at a disadvantage of the North West and Birmingham.
That’s certain to happen as the major cities in the north exert their newly-founded economic independence. That will be so important for the UK in the future.
