This is a trying time for the Thames Valley as the market in most locations, though not all, slows because of Brexit’s malign influence on confidence and the economy.
Towns like Bracknell have had a good run and now are pushing against shortages of prime buildings.
Others, such as Slough, have overcome the problems and are doing well.
Looming over the region is the prospect of the huge transport improvement from the Elizabeth Line giving the Thames Valley a broad and sophisticated transport system.
The outstanding area is Oxfordshire and its key role as part of the technology arc up to Cambridge. What is so special here is that the vibrancy of the city centre fits in with the strong performance of the business parks.
There appears to be no problem about new development, particularly at Bicester which has carved out a special and dynamic place in the past few years. This is important for the region but it also means a contribution to the overall UK economy as well as being attractive on an international basis.
